Draft Microelectronics R&D Strategy Released for Public Comment
(September 26, 2022) Last month, President Biden signed the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 to power American infrastructure, grow and diversify our workforce, and enhance science and technology research and development. The act appropriates funds that were originally authorized in the CHIPS for America Act of 2021. That act also established the National Science and Technology Council’s Subcommittee on Microelectronics Leadership (SML) and tasked them with developing a national microelectronics R&D strategy. Last week, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), on behalf of the SML, released a Draft National Strategy on Microelectronics Research for public comment. The draft strategy covers a broad range of R&D opportunities, including those relevant for quantum information science. Check out the RFI here, and provide comments by Oct. 17th.
