The U.S. Department of Energy launched the new Quantum Genesis initiative, which aims to develop and deploy the world’s first fault-tolerant, scientifically relevant quantum computer for research and development by 2028. The Department of Energy has sought community input through a Request for Information on Scientifically Relevant Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing Systems. The Quantum Genesis is a significant first step in carrying out President Trump’s call for a national effort in developing a quantum computer.
